At 5.00 am ET Tuesday, Germany's ZEW economic confidence survey data is due. The economic sentiment index is seen at 72 in May versus 70.7 in April.
Ahead of the data, the euro advanced against its major rivals.
The euro was worth 1.2161 against the greenback, 132.37 against the yen, 1.0971 against the franc and 0.8606 against the pound as of 4:55 am ET.
