The Australian dollar staged a sharp rise against most major rivals at about 2:50 pm ET on Friday. At 2:55 pm ET, the Aussie was worth new multi-day highs of 0.6875 against the US dollar, 0.8404 versus the loonie and 62.28 versus the yen. The Aussie also advanced against the euro and as of now worth 2.0486. At present, the Aussie is trading at 0.6862 against the greenback and 62.17 versus the yen.
