The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, which monitors the shipping rates for vessels carrying dry commodities, continued to rise for the second consecutive session on Tuesday, climbing approximately 5% to reach 2,041 points—the highest level since August 15. This increase was observed across all types of vessels in the index. The capesize index, which is associated with 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, jumped significantly by 8.5% to 3,031 points, driven by strong Chinese demand for iron ore from key exporters Australia and Brazil. Meanwhile, the panamax index, typically used for transporting 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased by approximately 2-7% to 1,818 points, marking its peak since July 25. Additionally, the supramax index saw a modest increase of 0.9%, reaching 1,437 points.
