2008.12.3100:25:00UTC+00S. Korean Annual Inflation Eases To 4.1% In December

Wednesday, South Korea's National Statistical Office said the consumer price index or CPI rose at a slower annual pace of 4.1% in December, compared with 4.5% growth recorded in November. The inflation rate was a tad higher than the expected rate of 4%.

On a monthly basis, the CPI recorded no growth in December, while it fell 0.3% in November. The core annual inflation that excludes volatile food and fuel prices rose to 5.6% in December from 5.3% in the previous month.

Annual inflation rate for the full year rose to 4.7% on average, higher than 2.5% recorded in 2007.
