The euro has dropped slightly against the US dollar ahead of the European Central Bank's (ECB) policy meeting on Thursday, although anticipations were low for any follow up move on the central bank’s dramatic measures earlier this month.

The ECB revealed a package of measures to keep the euro zone economy from tumbling into a Japan-style deflation.

Data last Friday showed German inflation ascended to 1.0%, previously 0.5% in May, potentially gliding up the overall eurozone rate, was seen as easing pressure on the ECB to take additional steps.

The currency was slightly down on the day against the greenback at $1.3643, but still near from a 2-1/2 week peak of $1.3652 hit on Wednesday. But it was on trace for a 0.7% loss in the half-year period.

Versus the Japanese yen, the euro fell around 0.1% to ¥138.21, close to June's ¥137.70-¥140.scope.
