South Korean stocks on a down trade in early Thursday action, with the Kospi backsliding 1% at 1,962.67. Auto majors Hyundai Motor Co. and Kia Motors Corp. lead the sharp declines, giving up 3.2% and 3.5%, respectively, after news the two were recalling almost 1.9 million vehicles in the U.S. Shares of STX Offshore & Shipbuilding Co. drop 2.1% after going limit down in the past session on liquidity concerns.
