The Canadian dollar weakened against the US dollar Thursday as robust jobs data backed the greenback to the expense of the loonie, which clouded encouraging global purchasing activity report.
But the currency remained within its trading range in a calm week for domestic economic data which gave few catalysts to take the currency firmly in either direction.
The loonie closed the North American session at C$1.0745 to the dollar or 93.07 US cents, weaker than Wednesday's C$1.0729 or 93.21 US cents.
"It's part of just bouncing around in this range that we're becoming quite familiar with over the last week," said Ken Wills, Currency Strategist and Broker at CanadianForex.
