Continuing the saga of Takata crisis, Toyota Motor Corp. pulled out approximately 5.8 million vehicles, which includes 1.16 million cars in Japan, as part of the wide recall of faulty airbag inflators.
American and Japanese officials previously ordered pulling out all Takata inflators which have no drying component for maintaining the propellant in its airbags from exploding and scattering shrapnels into the passengers.
In May, the NHTSA regulator bolstered the number of cars for recall in the country when it mandated replacing around 40 million airbags. Also, Japanese authorities ordered to recall around 19.6 million cars in the Asian nation.
