U.S. stocks rallied ahead of the U.S. presidential election, with prospects rising for the victory of Democratic representative Hillary Clinton following the FBI's statement that it will not press criminal charges against her. All 30 components of the Dow and all 11 major S&P 500 sectors gained.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 2.1 percent to 18259.60. The S&P 500 rose 2.2 percent to 2131.52 while the Nasdaq Composite climbed 2.4 percent to 5155.17. The IShares MSCI Mexico ETF jumped 5.3 percent and is on course for its best day in over five years. The 2.5 percent increase of the financials led the advances among the 11 S&P sectors. Shares of Biogen surged 6.18 percent following its announcement of a positive interim trial data. Ionis soared 18.54 percent. Telecom services and utilities both added around 0.7 percent.
