Germany's business confidence touched its highest since July 2011, implying the economy is maintaining its ground.

Official data showed the business climate index escalated to 112.3 this month from a revised 111.1 in the previous month. It said a gauge of current economic conditions rose to 119.3, previously 118.4. A measure of expectations climbed to 105.7 from a revised 104.2.

The European Central Bank has said the recuperation is strengthening but not formidable enough to spark self-sustaining inflation and conclude a distinct monetary backing.
